Different Podcast to use in the classroom

Podcast for Education
Soundcloud, Audioboo, Podomatic and Spreaker Studio
Using Podcast in the education can benefit the student tremendously.  According to “Teachers guide to use of Podcast in Education” article on the Educational Technology and mobile Learning website, they have identified several ways a teacher can use a podcast. For example they can benefit the auditory learner because the student can hear it over and over to understand the lesson. Another example it is great to use for the remedial and student who need that extra support. Or the student can download a podcast and review the lesson when it’s convenient for him to hear and hear it as many times as he wants to hear it.
In an article in the “Educational Technology Network” it states that since teachers are teaching to digital natives that allowing students to use Podcast helps them be “creative and think outside the box.” They can review what they just learn and teach it to others.

In the Wikipedia when I made a search I read, “SoundCloud is a global online audio distribution platform based in Berlin, Germany, that enables its users to upload, record, promote, and share their originally-created sounds.” I tried to use it but was not comfortable with it. It was not for me. Funny I found it in my morning devotional, the author (Tony Evans) embedded in the devotional so we can auditory listen to the different names of God. It was only one second long. Cool!

Audioboo from London, United Kingdom according to Wikipedia, it states that people can download, record, and listen to any digital recordings. It is a podcast that has no limits to how many podcast you want to use it which is making the site “popular with audio bloggers, diarists, journalists, teachers, and podcasters.”  I also tried to use it but was not able to because it was not what I was used to.

Podomatic I tried to use it also, It gave me a five steps to start; 1. Select media for your episode. 2. Enter a title and description. 3. Add an image. 4. Choose a quality level. 5. Publish! As one who was using it for an assignment I did not feel I needed all of those steps to create one Podcast. I believe if I was going to use it for an ongoing class then I would consider it.

I got to use Spreaker Studio and found it easy and convenient. I did not have to pay a fee. I liked the fact that I just press a red button on my IPad and it starts to record. It allows for additional sound to be injected in my podcast for free. I had used this app before for my previous class so I was familiar with podcasting and Spreaker Studio. Here is a review by Make use of website that can give more information on the benefits of using this Podcast.

Here is my Podcast I did with the help of Elaine, one my student. She was the one asking questions and made this recording easy to do. Here is my podcast on Technology in Education.
